According to the Korea Herald, Samho Green Investment has arranged a mutually beneficial contract between Chemport, a Korean bio-venture firm, and Amarin, a U.S. biopharmaceutical company. Under the agreement, Chemport is to supply polyunsaturated fatty acids to Amarin, which will in turn invest up to $8.8 million in the former. Chemport will get an initial investment of $330,000 to build their supply capacity.
Chemport specializes in the manufacture and development of highly concentrated Omega-3 fatty acids, which are recognized by FDA and are proven to be effective in preventing heart disease.
A representative at Samho said this will help Chemport “grow from a nutraceutical company to a pharmaceutical company as it starts to supply to a generic pharmaceutical company.”
